A clogged kitchen sink is one of the most common problems in any home. In most cases you can fix it yourself in less than 30 minutes with simple tools.

Step 1: Try boiling water
Pour a kettle of hot water slowly into the drain. Grease often melts and the water starts to flow again.
Step 2: Use a plunger
Fill the sink with a few inches of water, cover the drain fully and push the plunger up and down 10 to 15 times.
Step 3: Clean the P-trap
Put a bucket under the pipe, open the U-shaped trap and remove what is inside.
Step 4: Use a drain snake
If the clog is deeper, a hand auger can reach 15 to 25 feet into the pipe.
